SHA' PTA' - Fantastic Fellas Friday -Capitol Police Officer Eugene Goodman
Friday Jan 22, 2021
Friday Jan 22, 2021
EPISODE #67 - This Fantastic Fellas Friday – We celebrate Capitol Police Officer Eugene Goodman. Officer Goodman escorted Vice President Kamala Harris to the inauguration on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. Who is Eugene Goodman? He is a Maryland native who served in the Army as an infantryman for more than four years, leaving with the rank of sergeant in December 2006 after a year in Iraq. He has worked for the Capitol Police since at least mid-2009. As horrible as January 6, 2021 was as millions watched live how Trump supporters rioted and tried to take over the capitol, it was a Black officer faced down a mostly White mob at the Capitol. Amid all the noise, Officer Goodman is hailed as a hero for confronting the insurrectionists and leading them away from Senate chambers possible saving many lives, including avoiding former Vice President Pence and his family from being seen by the mob. Due to his heroism, Goodman got a promotion: He is now the acting deputy Senate Sergeant at Arms. I hope they remove acting from his title soon and give him the Gold Medal as well from Congress. SHA' PTA' - Wonderful Women Wednesday - Ruby Bridges Walks With Kamala Harris
Wednesday Jan 20, 2021
Wednesday Jan 20, 2021
EPISODE #66 - This Wonderful Women Wednesday – We celebrate HERSTORY – Two legendary women, Ruby Bridges and Kamala Harris Making History. Have you seen the captivating silhouette of civil rights trailblazer Ruby Bridges’ shadow as a 6-year-old walking historically with Kamala Harris? Photo went viral after the announcement that the Biden campaign had won the 2020 presidential election. It was created by African American artist and Sacramento-based Co-Founder of Good Trubble, Gordon Jones. In fact, the illustration — named “That Little Girl Was Me,” referenced the rhetorical swipe over busing that Harris took at Biden during a Democratic primary debate. Listen to Ruby in an interview this week in her own words about how she made HERSTORY and how Kamala is now making HERSTORY 60 years later. WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY? SHA' PTA' - Marvelous Motivating Monday - MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY
Monday Jan 18, 2021
Monday Jan 18, 2021
EPISODE #65 - This Marvelous Motivating Monday – We celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. (“MLK”). We open with Stevie Wonder’s Happy Birthday Song and Chadwick Bozeman’s Class of 2018 Inspirational Graduation Speech followed by MLK’s Be Phenomenal Speech. Pay attention to the blueprint of your life that he describes. Look up the meaning of 6, 5, and 65. Martin Luther King, Jr., (January 15, 1929-April 4, 1968) was born Michael Luther King, Jr., but later had his name changed to Martin. His grandfather began the family’s long tenure as pastors of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, serving from 1914 to 1931; his father has served from then until the present, and from 1960 until his death Martin Luther acted as co-pastor. The Nobel Peace Prize 1964 was awarded to Martin Luther King Jr. for his non-violent struggle for civil rights for the Afro-American population. In a Presentation Speech by Gunnar Jahn, Chairman of the Nobel Committee on December 10, 1964, he concludes as follows:
“If you will protest courageously and yet with dignity and Christian love, when the history books are written [in future generations], the historians will [have to pause and] say: “There lived a great people – a black people who injected new meaning and dignity into the veins of civilization.” This is our challenge and our overwhelming responsibility.” WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY? EPISODE #64 - This Fantastic Fellas Friday – Pennsylvania Congressman Conor Lamb and William Penn who is founder of the English North American colony the Province of Pennsylvania, now known as the State of Pennsylvania. He was an early advocate of democracy and religious freedom, notable for his good relations and successful treaties with the Lenape Native Americans. Here is a quote from William Penn which is relevant today in 2021.
“If thou wouldst rule well, thou must rule for God, and to do that, thou must be ruled by him. Those who will not be governed by God will be ruled by tyrants.” – William Penn. Tyrant is defined as: an absolute ruler unrestrained by law or constitution, a usurper of sovereignty, a ruler who exercises absolute power oppressively or brutally, one resembling an oppressive ruler in the harsh use of authority or power. I feel this is Donald J. Trump. Representative Conor Lamb (who went to University of Pennsylvania and Penn Law) stood up to Congressmen and Senator who tried to de-certified the State of Pennsylvania’s votes for President-Elect Biden. For Trump supporters, I like to end it with seriousness from five (5) late night show hosts. WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY? LINKS BELOW FOR: APPLE, GOOGLE, PANDORA, AND SPOTIFY.

SHA' PTA' - Wonderful Women Wednesday - Letitia James Attorney General of New York
Wednesday Jan 13, 2021
Wednesday Jan 13, 2021
EPISODE #63 - This Wonderful Women Wednesday – We celebrate New York Attorney General Letitia James. A native New Yorker who does things for the community and stands firm on facts when it comes to the law. In an interview with Marie Claire, she was asked: Did you always want to go into public service? Letitia James: “I read a book called Simple Justice: The History of Brown v. Board of Education and Black America's Struggle for Equality by Richard Kluger. And I knew that I wanted to walk the halls where Thurgood Marshall and others walked when they were focusing on the Civil Rights Movement. Howard University [where I studied law] is the laboratory for the Civil Rights Movement, and I wanted to learn more about all of those who were involved in dismantling government-sponsored segregation in this country. And as a teenager, my brother was falsely accused [of a crime] and my mom took me to criminal court in Brooklyn. I remember all the individuals who were in the pews in the courtroom were people who look like me. Everyone else in a position of power from the judge to the lawyers to the court officers [did not]. And I can recall an officer being very disrespectful to my mom and to others who simply asked [about their] loved ones. They were told, basically, to sit down and shut up. I vowed at that moment that I would never allow another mother, grandmother, father, or grandfather to be disrespected in that manner.” WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY? EPISODE #61 - This Fatuous Foolish Friday – Capitol Building Domestic Terrorist Privileged Style. We discuss the foolishness that happened Wednesday at the Capitol Building. Once again, America has shown how race plays a role on how law enforcement reacts.
