Episode #102 - On this Wonderful Women Wednesday we celebrate Stacey Cunningham, who made history on May 22, 2018 as the first female president of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in its 226-year history. Cunningham was named the 67th president of the NYSE. In 1994, while still a university student, Cunningham completed a summer internship at the NYSE. Two years later, she began working there as a trading floor clerk. At the time, Cunningham was one of the few dozen female employees on the trading floor – compared to over a thousand male employees. CNBC does a live interview with her from the floor of the NYSE, (which is the background noise you hear) and talks about how technology and algorithms play a key role in the industry. The crypto currency is also discussed as it relates to stock, and this interview is over two years old. Crypto is now taking over the stock market in 2021. Dark pools are discussed, which is a private forum for trading securities, derivatives, and other financial instruments. She encourages the everyday person to learn more about investing. You do not need to be rich to invest in the stock market. There are stocks with shares under $5.00 if you want to try it. Companies like E-Trade, Robinhood and others are easy to understand and will help the beginning investor. Three days from today, she celebrates her three year anniversary in this role. Episode #101 - This Marvelous Motivating Monday, we discuss the 2nd AMENDMENT and how people of color need to understand their rights and discover organizations that educate about bearing arms.
What is the Second Amendment? Annotated - A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.
What was the original intent of the Second Amendment?
Abundant historical evidence indicates that the Second Amendment was meant to leave citizens with the ability to defend themselves against unlawful violence. Such threats might come from usurpers of governmental power, but they might also come from criminals whom the government is unwilling or unable to control.
A SPECIAL INITIATIVE FROM ONE OF THE ORGANIZATIONS HAS TO BE MENTIONED.
“Huey P. Newton Gun Club Housing Development in Atlanta, GA for Women and Children”
Under the Leadership of Kimoni Sadiq the Huey P Newton Gun Club of Atlanta has gone beyond the call of duty. These beautiful brothers and sister have bought several properties in their community and are in the process of transforming them into low-income housing for women and children, also giving a few homeless an opportunity to live in a home.
Local Objectives are:
- To develop power through education - We, the Huey P Newton Gun Club, work to educate our people, particularly the youth. To that end, our movement educates and teaches the community at our weekly meetings; public forums, rallies; programs; town hall meetings; on the streets; in the schools; in the projects; on the radio; through electronic and print media, and anywhere where knowledge needs to be forwarded.
- To develop and enforce accountability in law enforcement and the criminal justice system - We respect the Police in our community who show proper respect for our community. We respect those in authority as long they respect us. We, the Huey P Newton Gun Club, mobilize and organize for an end to police brutality and misconduct. We demand the police in our community, and elsewhere, respect the Human Rights of our people and their constitutional rights. We strive for community police review boards with legal power to seek indictments, punish and discipline rogue police officers. We founded this organization on three “simple” points, it must be understood we do not want to reinvent a long-drawn-out platform or process.
- We want immediate end to police brutality and the murder of black and brown
- We want to cease black on black violence and self-hatred.
- We want to arm every black men and woman throughout the United States, which has been the greatest fear of the establishment.
Georgia’s National African American Gun Association
Here is what their website says they are about. The goal of the National African American Gun Association is to establish a 2nd Amendment Organization that educates and trains our community on the rich legacy of gun ownership of African Americans, offering education, training, support, safety standards, and cultural inspiration.
We are a pro 2nd amendment organization focused on the preservation of our community through armed protection and community building. We are a hub and network for all African American firearm owners, organizations, gun clubs and outdoor enthusiasts.
The long-term goal of the National African American Gun Association is to have every African American introduced to firearm use for home protection, competitive shooting, and outdoor recreational activities. We welcome people of all religious, political, social, and racial backgrounds. We especially welcome African American members of law enforcement and active retired military. WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY? Episode #100 – Since this is our 100th episode, and this week we are looking forward to the future, I want to talk about the pandemic and the future of getting out into a semi-normal world. For this reason, I wanted to celebrate Fantastic Fellas Friday focusing on the vaccine and share comments from President Joe Biden and Prince Harry and others talking about disinformation about the vaccine. Only 1% of Africa has received the vaccine and it can take until 2023 for people in Africa to get it. India is suffering severely as well, and we see the images on TV. Oprah talks to doctors, and Kati Morton shares 3 tips for handling pandemic anxiety. President Biden is offering free Uber and Lyft rides for those needing to get vaccine from May 24th to July 4th.
Ohio Governor is offering not only a $1 Million Lottery for adults who are vaccinated, with just one shot, he is also offering a drawing to receive a Full Four-Year Scholarship to any state university, including tuition, room and board and books for those 17 and under who get the vaccine.
